Restaurant helps feed the needy in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For the first year of what might become an annual tradition, the Low Tide Pub in Wilmington cooked up a hot Christmas meal for their customers. The food was all free to those in need.
In total 26 pounds of turkey were given away, along with all of the sides that come with it. Whenever it got slow in the restaurant, employees hit the street with to-go boxes of food to give away to people who weren’t able to physically come to the pub.
“We’re doing this to reach out to the community, and let people know that we’re not just a business, we’re part of the community,” said Floyd Davis, an employee at the restaurant. “We want everyone to feel welcome to come to our business. We want everyone to be welcome to get help if they need help. And sometimes, this time of year, people get skipped over that really do need some help. “
On Friday the Low Tide Pub is having customer appreciation day. Starting at noon, they will be giving away baked ziti for free while supplies last.
