Restaurant owners thankful for a busy holiday rush

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A lot of restaurants were closed for Thanksgiving, but we found one that said this is their busiest time of the year.

Hundreds of people have been coming in and out of Casey’s Buffet in Wilmington all day long.

The owners said Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day are their two busiest days of the year.

They have been preparing for weeks making enough turkeys and over 20 sides to go on the buffet line.

Being open on Thanksgiving, owners say is now a tradition.

“To be able to do what we do, we love cooking, I’ve had the restaurant for 13 years now been in the business for a long time, 30 years and it’s just become a tradition and we got a lot of people that come here that don’t have family. They come here and eat and it’s just one big family,” owner Larry Casey said.

They are open until 9 p.m. tonight and then owners Larry and Gena Casey said they do their family Thanksgiving meal together.
