Retailers do better than expected on Black Friday
WILMINGTON — Results are in from Black Friday sales and the nation’s retailers are doing better than many thought.
According to Shopper-Trak, sales are up 8.3 percent, which equals out to around $10.3 billion in sales on Friday alone, proving deep discounts and early-bird specials paid off.
Retail analysts had been predicting a slow start to the holiday shopping season amid a sluggish economy and soaring gas prices. But Independence Mall and Mayfaire Town Center saw plenty of foot traffic this holiday weekend.
