Retreat for cancer patients and survivors held in Wrightsville Manor
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Over 30 people gathered at a retreat that was sponsored by Hope Abounds Cancer Network, a non-profit that guides cancer survivors, patients, and their families.
The retreat was held at the Wrightsville Manor.
Kenny Barnes cofounded the network after his daughter was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 at the age of 32.
Barnes said the retreat was about educating people who have cancer and their caregivers on how to properly take care of themselves.
“We had a doctor at one of our events one time,” Barnes said. “Well, I have 15 minutes to talk to you. But I’ll turn you to Hope Abound Cancer Network. They will do a whole hour with you, tell you what you need, what are you going through, how they are going to assist you, and bring you hope. To get you through the cancer journey.”
The non-profit spent part of the day discussing ways to eat healthier and provide proper body healing.
