Reward increased in escaped inmate search
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A reward has been upped for any information that leads to the capture of an escaped inmate, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies say William Hewett escaped from the Brunswick County Detention Center Thursday. Sheriff John Ingram said Hewett switched armbands with his brother, Curtis Hewett, in order to get out. Curtis Hewett was due to be bonded out.
Jailer Ashley Harrell was fired Saturday in connection with the incident, deputies said.
The reward for information leading to his arrest is now at $2,500.
