Reward offered in Columbus Co. dog abuse investigation

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — As the investigation continues into how a dog ended up tied to a bridge in Whiteville, animal rights leaders are stepping up and offering a reward.

A female, beagle-mix, year-old dog was found earlier this month tied to a bridge with multiple cords keeping her tied up. Officials said the dog was underfed and dehydrated. The dog was found near the Slippery Log Road/Thompson Town Road intersection.

According to a release from Columbus County Animal Control manager Joey Prince, the dog now named Angel is still recovering. PETA is also offering a reward for up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
