Rick Ross concert fails to get permits, no concert as of now
BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County will not issue permits for the advertised Rick Ross concert that’s supposed to take place tomorrow.
Brunswick County says the permit applicant failed to provide the information required to complete the permit application process.
An applicant associated with the advertised concert met with Brunswick County staff on March 31 to discuss permit applications for the proposed concert, advertised for Friday on the private Town Creek Vision Park in the Snowfield community in Town Creek.
Staff advised the applicant at that time that additional information was needed to process and issue the required permits, including electrical plans, parking plans and traffic patterns, and restroom facilities.
The county says as of today, that information had not been provided, and staff advised the applicant that Brunswick County would be unable to issue any permits for the proposed event.
The promoter, Alonza Mitchell said that the issue they ran into was because of a requirement for handicapped parking.
“We had like a list of ten things and we fulfilled nine of those things. We tried fixing up the area to have handicapped parking but then the rain came in from last night and it all turned to mud. We tried to fix it, but we couldn’t do much,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell said they are currently working towards a new date in the month of April and previously bought tickets will be accepted.
“I can’t even be mad at Brunswick County. They did what they had to do,” Mitchell said.
A booking agent for the concert said Rick Ross understands the situation and will show up no matter what the next date is.
