Road closures and detours
Hurricane Matthew and flooding has left many roads in our areas closed. Here is the latest information on road closures and NCDOT provided detours:
BLADEN COUNTY
NC-210 North of White Lake near US-701 closed in both directions due to washout.
NC 242 North of Elizabethtown near SR-1508 closed in both directions due to washout.
NC-41 near White Lake near Colly Creek closed in both directions due to flooding.
NC-53 in White Oak near River Road closed in both directions due to washout.
Twisted Hickory (SR-1003) near Elizabethtown near NC-242 closed in both directions due to washout.
Twisted Hickory North West of Clarkton near SR-1141 closed in both directions due to flooding caused by washout/dam break.
Paul Brinson Rd. (SR-1105) West of Dublin near NC-131 closed in both directions due washout.
Pleasant Grove Church (SR-1107) South of Dublin near NC-410, down to one lane due to partial washout.
Ben Street Ext. (SR-1145) in Elizabethtown near NC-87 closed in both directions due to washed out bridge.
Cromartie Rd West of Elizabethtown near NC-87 closed in both directions due to washout.
Forrest Dr. South West of Bladenboro near SR-1178 closed in both directions due to washout.
Happy Valley Rd. South of Elizabethtown near SR-1150 narrowed to one lane due to partial washout.
Owen Hill Rd. West of Elizabethtown near NC-87 closed in both directions due to washout.
David Road North West of White Lake near NC-210 closed in both directions due to washout.
Sweet Home Church North of Elizabethtown near SR-1511 closed in both directions due to flooding.
Mercer Mill Brown Marsh Rd. in Elizabethtown near NC-87 due to shoulder washout, bridge overtopping.
Old Rosindale South of Elizabethtown near SR-1777 closed in both directions due to washout.
Elkton Rd. South of Elizabethtown near SR-1700 closed in both directions due to washout.
US-701 North of White Lake near SR-1514 closed in both directions due to undermining of box culvert over Colly Creek.
US-701 in Elizabethtown near NC-87 closed in both directions because Brown’s Creek bridge is washed out.
BRUNSWICK COUNTY
Beaver Creek Drive at Tidemarsh Court is closed.
Beach Drive from 16th Place E. to 42 Place W. on Oak Island is under water.
E. Beach Dr. from SE 58th to SE 52nd is closed on Oak Island.
River Road North East of Boiling Spring Lakes closed in both directions due to high water.
Governor Road near Gordon Lewis Road is closed.
Holden Beach Road from Red Bug Road to Beachway trail is closed.
Holly Drive in Southport is closed.
The Holden Beach Bridge is only open to current re-entry decal holders.
Malmo Loop Rd. N.E near Leland near SR-1416 closed in both directions due to washout near Colon Mintz.
Myrtle Head Road is closed form the 5300-6700 block.
Rock Creek Road is closed.
South Navassa Road is closed.
Bay Street and 40th Street in Sunset Beach are closed.
White Street between Mulberry and Shallotte Avenues is closed.
There is a tree in the middle of White Spruce Glenn near Oak Island.
COLUMBUS COUNTY
US 74/76 Closed East of Whiteville near US 701 between mile markers 241-244 due to flooding.
US 701 bypass/US 74 business closed due to flooding.
DETOUR: Wilmington traffic Take Exit 241, US-701 Bypass South. Turn right onto US-701 Bypass/JK Powell Avenue. Continue south for 3 miles and turn left onto NC-130 East / Love Mill Road. Continue east for 32 miles and turn left onto US-17 North. Continue for 30 miles to re-access US-74.
