Storms lead to flooded neighborhoods
When it rains… this is what you’ll see on Asheton Road. A flooded road.
Some neighbors are tolerant of it. After all this road has been flooding for years, but
Rita Mole is tired of being patient. She wants a solution to the problem. “It needs to be repaired. It needs to be repaired. I feel like our neighborhood has been neglected by the county. It’s a quiet neighborhood. We care about our community. We need to get someone to look at the maintenance of the roads and of course the ditches, which I believe is truly overdo for repair. ”
Rita Mole says New Hanover County is aware of the situation. A drainage situation that became worse 3 years ago when a developer pumped sand from an adjacent property into the Asheton Road ditch.
“They think it’s not dangerous. Hopefully nobody will get hurt.
And the odd thing is.. Rita Mole says it only takes a small amount of rain for Asheton Road to get flooded. Recently a range rover with all 4 tires got stuck in the ditch… It’s a wide ditch…and according to Rita, a ditch and road that needs attention.
