Rocky Point man charged in rash of Domino’s robberies dating back years
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – A contracted employee with Domino’s pizza made off with thousands of dollars over the years, according to investigators.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office says Jimmie Willets, 50, broke into the Domino’s Pizza on Cronly Drive in Delco on February 8. Michelle Tatum, with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, says Willets caused about $200 worth of damage while entering the safe. Tatum says Willets used a stolen combination to steal $7,800.
Tatum says Willets also took the store’s dvr system, which was part of the security system. That same night, Willets is accused of breaking into the Domino’s pizza at Ocean Isle Beach.
Tatum says Willets also broke into two stores in Wilmington, one in Castle Hayne, one in Burgaw, and one in Supply. The Supply breaking and entering goes back to September 28, 2013.
According to Tatum, Willets is a contracted employee with Domino’s and believes he was actually contracted in security.
For the Columbus County breaking and entering, Willets is charged with 3 felonies and 1 misdemeanor, they include Safecracking, Larceny after B&E, Breaking and Entering and Injury to Personal Property. He posted a $40,000 bond yesterday.
He goes to court in Columbus County on September 27.
