Romney to skip RTP-area stop during NC visit
RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is scratching one stop off his scheduled visit to North Carolina.
A statement from the campaign Saturday said the former Massachusetts governor still plans to make stops Sunday in Mooresville and High Point as part of his bus tour. However, the planned stop at a restaurant in Morrisville has been cancelled.
The statement said the campaign will go from High Point to Waukesha, Wis., for a homecoming rally. Romney selected Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his vice presidential running mate on Saturday.
North Carolina is considered a battleground state for the presidency. President Barack Obama won North Carolina’s electoral votes in 2008 by a slim margin.
