Saffo, 3 council members sworn in

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington City Council meeting had a bit of a different feel Tuesday night as elected city officials took their oath of office.

Mayor Bill Saffo along with councilmen Kevin O’Grady, Charlie Rivenbark and Earl Sheridan were all sworn in to serve the city for four more years.

After being sworn into office Mayor Saffo shared his vision for the city with WWAY.

“Economic development continues to be one of the things that are on one of the citizens minds,” Saffo said. “We continue to improve on the infrastructure of our roads. Working with the comprehensive land use plan that will give us a road map of what the community will look like in the next 20 to 30 years. We understand that 50-thousand additional citizens will be moving into our city in the next 30 years.”

The only notable change to the council over the next four years is that Margaret Haynes will now be serving as Mayor Pro Tempore. Sheridan had previously held that position.
