Salisbury panel to hear report on Blackmer house
SALISBURY, N.C. — The Salisbury Historic Preservation Commission will learn more about a proposal to tear down a home that once belonged to an actor who starred in “Rosemary’s Baby.”
The Salisbury Post reported that the commission on Thursday will hear a committee report about the house, which once belonged to Sidney and Suzanne Blackmer.
Their son, Jonathan, has gotten permission to tear down the house, which suffered fire damage in 1984. But the commission delayed demolition for 365 days.
Sidney Blackmer starred in “Rosemary’s Baby” and also won a Tony for his role in “Come Back, Little Sheba” in 1950. Suzanne Blackmer is remembered for holding Donald Trump at bay when he
wanted her to abandon her Manhattan apartment.
