Salmonella outbreak includes North Carolina

A nationwide Salmonella outbreak has hit 42 states including North Carolina.

The State Department of Health and Human Services said Friday that one person in Robeson County had been sickened by the bacteria.

The centers for disease control says about one in five of the Salmonella victims have been taken to hospitals.

Nearly 400 people in total have become ill in the outbreak that might have killed one person.

The CDC is leading the investigation, but has not determined which foods may have caused people to become sick.
