Santa visits kids in hospital

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –The hospital is no place to spend the holidays, but it’s a reality for some sick children. So today they got a special visitor.

Santa Claus took some time away from the North Pole to visit the Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Wilmington. The jolly old elf helped spread some Christmas cheer and pose for photos with the kids.

“This time of year is all about the children and sharing with them,” said Joy Wade, executive director of Women of Hope. “We’ve brought Santa, we’ve got face painting, we’ve got a magic show going on, we’ve got some presents to give to them because many of them are spending Christmas in the hospital.”

The Women of Hope organization also brought along pizza, cupcakes and candy canes.
