BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (News Release) — Brunswick County residents, businesses, and Private Non-Profit Organizations (PNPs) affected by severe storms and flooding that occurred Sept. 16–20, 2024, are eligible to apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

The SBA opened a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) in Brunswick County on Oct. 19 to assist residents, businesses, and PNPs complete their disaster loan application, accept documents, and provide updates on an application’s status. Walk-ins are accepted, but you can schedule an in-person appointment at the SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center in advance.
Applicants seeking in-person assistance can visit the DLOC, located at Town Creek Park Community Building (6420 Ocean Hwy E, Winnabow, NC), before it permanently closes at 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024. The remaining hours of operation for the DLOC are as follows:
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (permanently closes at noon)

Following the DLOC closure, applicants may continue to apply online at sba.gov/disaster.

Interest rates are as low as 4% for businesses, 3.25% for nonprofit organizations, and 2.813% for homeowners and renters, with terms up to 30 years. Interest does not begin to accrue, and monthly payments are not due, until 12 months from the date of the initial disbursement. Loan amounts and terms are set by the SBA and are based on each applicant’s financial condition.

On Oct. 15, 2024, it was announced that funds for the Disaster Loan Program have been fully expended. While no new loans can be issued until Congress appropriates additional funding, the SBA remains committed to supporting disaster survivors. Applications will continue to be accepted and processed to ensure individuals and businesses are prepared to receive assistance once funding becomes available.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their loan applications promptly for review in anticipation of future funding.
