SBI: Fmr. asst. district attorney charged in forgery investigation

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — A former assistant district attorney is out on $10,000 bond for altering court documents, according to the State Bureau of Investigation.

Randy Lemay Cartrette, 40, of Whiteville, was arrested today by the SBI for the alleged forgery of a court document to recall an order for arrest for one of his clients. That incident occurred back in July, according to a news release.

The SBI was requested by in July District Attorney Jon David to investigate Cartrette who is also charged with misdemeanor common law forgery and misdemeanor obstruction of justice in this case.

Cartrette was an assistant prosecutor in Brunswick, Columbus and Bladen counties from 2000 through 2003.
