School shooting in Winston-Salem leaves one student dead, shooter in custody
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WWAY) — A shooting has happened at another North Carolina high school this week. This one happened at Mount Tabor High School in Forsyth County, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say one student, identified as William Chavis Raynard Miller Jr., has died. We do not know the victim’s age at this time. The suspect from the shooting was arrested without incident hours later.
WTVD reports a large law enforcement presence as well as medics were seen outside the school shortly after noon.
The school district is telling parents to not go to Mt. Tabor High School and instead, should pick up students at a nearby Harris Teeter.
This is the second school shooting in the state this week. On Monday, a fight at New Hanover High School led to a shooting. A 15-year-old student was charged in that incident.
