School starts for freshman at UNCW

Nearly 2,000 new UNCW students took their first steps as the class of 2013. Students started the day walking from the UNCW Bell Tower to Trask Coliseum. Following the trek was the official convocation for the class of 2013. After the ceremony, students congregated on the lawn where they were treated to a free picnic lunch. "Everyone is just one unit, everybody is friendly, and hanging out, and we all have something in common which is the school," said UNCW freshman Kea Payton. This incoming group has an estimated high school GPA average of 3.77 and an estimated SAT average of 1168.
