Sea of pink for breast cancer awareness
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s officially breast cancer awareness month, and today at the Wilmington Convention Center it was a sea of pink for New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Pink Ribbon Luncheon.
In just 16 years, the organization has raised more than $1.9 million to provide screenings and procedures.
Plus they have given out more than 6,000 comfort bags to women suffering from breast cancer in our area.
“Every woman needs to have her mammogram. Every woman if going through treatment needs to have comfort. We try to fill that need.”
Proceeds from the event will provide free mammograms and diagnostics for women who cannot afford them, comfort bags to women diagnosed with cancer, and a healing arts program that provides therapeutic relief to cancer patients.
