Sea turtles released back into the ocean off Morehead City coast

There were some emotional goodbyes during a sea turtle release in Morehead City on Wednesday.

The “Carolina Princess” is the boat that took 12 sea turtles about 10 miles off the coast to get released into the ocean.

Samantha Ehinger works as a biologist at the Adventure Aquarium in New Jersey. Ehinger was on the boat and she explains why releasing the turtles into the wild is an emotional process, “It’s definitely an emotional program when you get something that’s no bigger than the size of your palm and you raise up this little sea turtle for about a year. Seeing it grow, seeing it learn and then releasing it into the wild is something that I wish everybody could feel.”
