Seagate Fire Department opens

It was a big day for the Seagate community on Saturday. Wilmington Mayor, Bill Saffo, and members of city council were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new fire station.

The new station located right off Oleander Drive was closed for about a year so the new building could be finished. Assistant Fire Chief Frank Blackley said the new station is more than just a place to hang his hat.

“Obviously as a resident that lives close to the station I’m just glad to know that the station is back here, close by, and being able to respond if needed,” Blackley said.

Assistant Fire Chief Blackley said he wants the station to be a part of the community. He urged residents to stop by and share their input with the firefighters.
