Senate panel approves 2 NC judges for 4th Circuit
RALEIGH, N.C. — A Senate panel has approved the nomination of two North Carolina judges to the federal appeals court.
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday voted to move forward the nominations of judges Jim Wynn and Albert Diaz.
Diaz passed through the panel unanimously while Wynn had just one opposing vote. Both have to be confirmed by the full Senate.
President Barack Obama nominated the two judges in November to serve on the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Diaz currently serves as a Special Superior Court Judge for complex business cases and would become the court’s first Hispanic judge. Wynn sits on the
North Carolina Court of Appeals.
The 4th Circuit court covers North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
