Senator Hagan meets with local officials during Wilmington visit
US Senator Kay Hagan came to Wilmington Monday to meet with local leaders. North Carolina’s junior senator talked with representatives from New Hanover County, Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach.
Top issues they raised were the need for the Cape Fear Skyway Bridge and beach renourishment. Senator Hagan also spent time discussing the health care reform debate raging around the country.
“I know a lot of people’s insurance premiums have increased dramatically, and yet their wages are not going up. The other area is pre-existing conditions. We need to be sure in this country that if you have a disease like diabetes, that you can still get health insurance,” said Senator Hagan.
Hagan said she will not support a reform bill unless it is deficit neutral and helps eliminate fraud, abuse and waste from the health care system.
