Sex crime suspect arrested in Idaho now in Brunswick Co. Jail
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man charged with sex crimes involving a child is in the Brunswick County Jail after being arrested earlier this month in Idaho.
Leland Police and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office got warrants against Fernando Vargas-Julio, 30, for two counts of first degree sex offense with a child, three counts of indecent liberties with a child, two counts of crimes against nature and disseminating obscenity to a minor.
The charges stem from a report Leland Police got May 13 of a sexual assault. The investigation found some of the alleged crimes happened outside the town limits.
The US Marshal Service tracked Vargas-Julio to an Idaho farm, where they say he was working under a fake name. They arrested him July 3.
Vargas-Julio is in custody under $500,600 bond.
