Sex offenders banned from county parks

The issue of banning sex offenders from county parks was voted upon last night at the New Hanover County Commissioner’s Meeting.

This comes after the city of Wilmington and Pender County also recently made the decision.

In New Hanover County, sex offenders will face criminal charges for entering county parks. That is not necessarily the case in city limits. If in city limits they could face a civil fine or criminal charges.

The unanimous vote on this issue means the law goes into effect immediately.
