Sheriff’s K9 bites child; Malinois quarantined

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A K-9 is in quarantine tonight after deputies say she bit a child on the leg, causing four stitches.

NHSO spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer says a deputy and his K-9 Funny, a female Malinois, were taking a break this afternoon at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, when a child approached the exercising dog. Brewer says the dog bit the 8-year-old girl on the leg, causing several puncture wounds.

Brewer says Funny will be in quarantine for 10 days.
