Sheriff’s Office: School bus shooting was accidental

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has determined that the person who shot a school bus in Bolivia was a child and that it was an accident.

It happened on Thursday on Candlewood Court around 4:00 p.m.

Investigators say 44 children and the driver were on the bus when a BB or pellet hit the window on the bus and injured a child.

EMS treated the child for the minor injury, investigators say.

This is the second time a Brunswick County school bus was hit by a BB gun. The last time it happened was in January, also in Bolivia.

In that case, it was also determined that a neighborhood child accidentally fired the shot. No one got hurt in that shooting.
