One in custody after shooting at Rocky Point grocery store

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — One person is in custody after an argument allegedly led to someone firing a gun at a grocery store.

It happened at the Freshway Food Mart at the intersection of US 117 and HWY 210 in Rocky Point.

Captain James Rowell, with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office, says the call came in around 2:15 p.m. on Thursday regarding a fight between two people. It was reported that one of them fired a gun.

Both people were still on the scene when deputies arrived.

No one was hurt.

No word yet on the name of the person in custody. WWAY will have more details as they become available.
