Should property owners foot the beach nourishment bill? Oak Island says maybe

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Some Oak Island residents are concerned about the town’s proposed plan to charge all property owners a beach nourishment fee.

The town council has called a special meeting for Tuesday, April 6, to receive comments and questions regarding the proposed “Beach Nourishment Master Plan.”

Seating inside council chambers will be limited to COVID-19 restrictions. Council is not expected to vote or take any action at the meeting.

Some residents are worried the fee may cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month.
