Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar changes locations in Wilmington, opens Leland franchise

SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY) — On the move and away they grow. A restaurant that started in Carolina Beach in 2007 just had another franchise open in Leland, with more set to open this year.

Shuckin’ Shack co-owner Sean Cook says an employee who worked at the Shuckin’ Shack in Carolina Beach for eight years decided to open her own franchise in Leland.

The Leland restaurant held a soft opening on Monday.

You’ll also notice the Shuckin’ Shack is changing locations in downtown Wilmington.

They are leaving their home on Market Street and moving to 127 N. Front Street, where Betsy’s Crepes used to be.

Cook says this new location on N. Front Street will give them twice as many seats, including outdoor seating, and a larger kitchen.

They hope to open in early April.

Cook says since they began franchising five years ago, they have grown to 13 locations in four states.

More franchises are set to open this year in Statesboro, Georgia, Little River, SC, Jacksonville, NC and possibly a third location in Cary.
