Siren system testing scheduled this week at UNCW

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Annual maintenance of the UNC-Wilmington campus siren system is slated to take place this week.
The university says the Seahawk Warning Siren System, UNCW’s outdoor emergency warning tool, will go off several times on Wednesday and possibly Thursday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The testing will not affect the Center for Marine Science campus.
“In the event an actual emergency occurs during the maintenance testing, the university will immediately cease testing and release text, phone and email messages,” UNCW wrote in a release. “Additionally, an emergency notification pop-up message will appear on university owned computers.”
