Six rescued from rip current in North Topsail Beach
NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (WWAY) — It was a busy weekend on North Topsail Beach as rescue crews had to save several people.
According to the Town of North Topsail Beach, fire crews responded to a water rescue at Topsail Dunes around 5:15 p.m. Sunday.
Crews were dispatched for two swimmers caught in a rip current and say they rescued a total of six people with the assistance of bystanders, a surfer, and a kayaker.
Deputy Fire Chief Bill Poe says everyone is okay.
North Topsail Police Department responded along with Turkey Creek Fire and Rescue, and Onslow County EMS.
