Small plane crash in western NC kills all 3 aboard

FRANKLIN, N.C. (AP) – A small private plane that took off in
Florida has crashed at an airport in western North Carolina,
killing all three people aboard.

Lt. Ken Lane with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office says the
crash happened at the county airport Thursday afternoon.
WLOS-TV reports the plane crashed at the
end of a runway and burst into flames.

Authorities are still at the scene investigating, and have not
yet released the names of the victims or suggested a possible cause
of the crash.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration says the
Cessna Citation aircraft left Venice Municipal Airport in Florida
for the airport in Macon County, about 75 miles east of the
Tennessee state line.

Investigators for the FAA were heading to the site of the crash
Thursday.
