Some downtown businesses will be without power Monday
A few downtown Wilmington businesses will be in the dark Monday.
Repairs to the Water Street bulkhead are almost complete, but not without a third power outage for nearby businesses.
Power will be shut off Monday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The planned outage is a safety precaution for crews while they install a transformer.
While store owners said the timing is bad, a spokesperson for Progress Energy said the company is operating under the city’s schedule. The city surveyed business owners before construction began.
There is no plan to reimburse owners for the lost business.
