Some students not vaccinated

Hundreds of sixth graders across North Carolina have been suspended for not having their vaccinations updated.

A new state law requires every sixth-grader to receive one booster dose of Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis, or Tdap.

In New Hanover County, 65 sixth graders have been suspended.

In Brunswick County, 23 students were sent home.

Students in both counties can get the shot for free at the county health department. The deadline for each county is 30 school days after the school’s start date.
