South Brunswick High student faces sex charges

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A student from South Brunswick High School is in the Brunswick County Detention Facility after being charged with multiple sex offenses.

According to school administration and Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Jibri Ali Ballard, 16, is charged with 2nd degree sex offense and sexual battery for an incident Wednesday night after the school’s Homecoming Bonfire.

School officials say they took immediate action and involved the Sheriff’s office to investigate. Ballard was arrested last night and is being held in the detention facility under a $100,000 bond.

Ballard is a junior at the school.
