South end of Topsail gets no speed limit change despite complaints

TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (StarNews) — The debate to reduce the speed limit along a little more than a two-mile stretch of road from the entrance of Topsail Beach south has, for now, ended.

Residents and visitors to the beach town on the south end of Topsail Island may continue to drive 45 miles per hour on North Anderson Boulevard.

Citing safety concerns, many residents at the north end of town have been asking Topsail Beach commissioners to request the N.C. Department of Transportation reduce the speed limit to 35 mph.
