Southern Fried Poetry Slam continues in Durham
DURHAM — A city in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina will be slammin’ for a few days.
The Herald-Sun of Durham reports that the 2009 Southern Fried Poetry Slam began there Thursday and continues Friday and Saturday. The event is in its 17th year and travels each year to a different Southern city.
This year’s Southern Fried Poetry Slam is being held at the Hayti Heritage Center.
In a poetry slam, judges chosen from the audience score the poets on a scale of zero to 10. Poets have a limited amount of time to present their work and may have no props other than copies of their poems.
