Southport hotel evacuated for fear of wall, roof collapse


SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Nearly 100 guests were moved from a Southport hotel over concerns about safety of the building.

Southport’s fire chief tell us 96 guests at the Comfort Suites on Southport-Supply Road were moved to the shelter at South Brunswick High School in Boiling Spring Lakes.

There was concern that a load-bearing wall on the building may buckle or the roof could collapse.
