Southport man pleads to assault charges
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man pleaded No Contest to two counts of Misdemeanor Assault on a Female in Brunswick County District Court.
The charges against Cody Hughes Clifton, 22, arose from an incident that took place at a home in Boiling Spring Lakes on July 15, 2013. Clifton pushed one woman into a door and grabbed another by the arm during a
party.
Shortly after the altercation, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene, conducted an investigation into the incident, and Clifton was taken into custody.
As a result of the convictions, Judge Pauline Hankins sentenced Clifton to 300 days in the North Carolina Division of Adult Correction, the maximum punishment allowed by statute.
