The head of Brunswick Community College is seeking employment elsewhere.
Dr. Stephen Greiner was selected last week to be one of three finalists for president of Sussex County Community College in Newton, NJ.
According to the Sussex college website, Greiner will visit the campus today (Wednesday) as part of a three-day public candidates forum.
Appointed search and advisory committees selected him and the other two finalists — both vice-presidents of community colleges in New York — from among more than 30 applicants.
The board of trustees of Brunswick Community College recently held a meeting to discuss Greiner’s contract and future employment status.
Greiner came to the local college in 2005 as the permanent replacement for Dr. Mike Reaves, who retired in 2004.
His previous positions included president of Virginia Intermont College, vice-president for academic affairs at the University of Evansville and associate dean and interim dean of education at Old Dominion University.
He also worked as a professor at Radford University, the University of South Alabama and Old Dominion University.
The Sussex County Community College Board of Trustees plans to appoint a new president by the end of December.
