SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket spotted over Cape Fear after Florida launch

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — A SpaceX rocket launch from Florida provided an early-morning sight for some people across the Cape Fear region Tuesday.

SpaceX launched another group of Starlink satellites aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

A photo submitted by a WWAY viewer shows the rocket streaking across the sky over the Cape Fear following liftoff.

Rocket launches from Florida can sometimes be seen from southeastern North Carolina when weather, visibility and the rocket’s flight path allow. From the Wilmington area, launches can appear as a bright light or glowing streak moving across the sky.

Similar sightings have been reported in the Cape Fear following previous launches from Florida. The last reported local sighting was in April.
