Special family receives new Habitat for Humanity home

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington family is getting a brand new home thanks to the community, and the hard work of their mom.

Chawaun and her four kids dedicated their new home today, surrounded by family and friends. Chawaun is a nursing assistant at New Hanover Regional and the hospital partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build the home. This is the sixth home the hospital has sponsored for an employee.

Outside of working, Chawaun volunteers her time building home with Habitat. The entire family, along with hospital employees, have been working on the house since January.

“We all just came together as one and it made this whole journey worth it from start to finish,” Chawaun said.

She says she plans to continue building more homes with Habitat for Humanity in the future.
