Speed to be lowered at 2 Pender schools

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A 35 mph speed limit will be in effect for the areas in front of two schools next week.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will install the advisory speed limit signs in the school zones of Topsail Elementary and Topsail Middle School on Monday, April 13. NCDOT will also put up some message signs along Highway 17 to alert drivers.

Representatives from Pender County Schools and the Pender County Sheriff’s Office met with Rep. Chris Millis to discuss the new speed limit in March.
