Spending Labor Day in front of the silver screen

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As the holiday weekend winds down, many people around the Cape Fear were taking in a flick. Dozens of people came out to enjoy one of the many movies currently out in theaters. It’s one way to get out of the heat and enjoy some air conditioning. For some people it was a good way to get away from the family after the holiday weekend festivities while for others, it’s a good way to spend the day with the kids.

“I think on the holidays, especially they do, especially after they’ve had lot of family and food and friends over. They kind of want some time just to themselves from the family. So they’ll go to the movie together,” Kerry Hinshaw said.

“It’s all for the family. We haven’t been in a while. I haven’t been in about five years so it was pretty nice. I enjoyed myself. It was a great experience for him. He was quite happy. He liked the movie,” Joseph Hill said.

Many families said the movies also help them get out of the house and some of the kids said they just wanted to eat popcorn.
