Burgaw Ponytails Remain Alive at Softball World Series

Round 4 had Florida vs. Burgaw, NC in an elimination game. NC shutout Florida with a 9-0 win. Great defensive plays and pitching proved to be the game winning combination for NC. Taylor Rivenburgh pitched 1st & 2nd innings with 4 strikeouts and allowing only 1 hit. Kristina Collier pitched 2nd & 3rd innings with 3 strikeouts and allowing only 2 hits. Abigail Blanchard was the final pitcher for 5th & 6th innings with 1 strikeout and allowing no hits.

The NC bats were definitely working in this game with singles from Kyra Holmes, Robbie Murray, Jordan Floyd, Hayley Grizzle, AJ Johnson, Desire Brown, and Abigail Blanchard. Doubles by Robbie Murray, Jordan Floyd, and AJ Johnson.

AJ Johnson had 4 RBI’s, Robbie Murray and Hayley Grizzle had 2 RBI’s each, and Kristina Collier with 1 RBI.

Burgaw, NC will face South Carolina in Round 5 elimination game at 6pm on August 3rd.
