Pender County native fights for title

On Friday, August 14th Pender County native Donnell Holmes will fight for the WBO-NABO Heavyweight Championship and the WBA Federcretro title. Holmes (31-0,27ko’s) will face Brian Minto(33-2,21 ko’s) . Donnell Holmes is ranked #11 in the WBO and #13 under the WBC World ratings. Brian Minto is ranked #5 by the WBO and #15 under the WBA ratings..

Donnell Holmes was a member of the Wilmington parks and recreation boxing team as an amateur from 1993 to 2000. His amateur record was 73-13,64 ko’s before turning pro in 2003. Since turning pro he has won the CBA (Carolina Boxing Association),WBC Continental Americas,and WBF All Americas titles.

The fight will be on Webcast Pay-Per-View for a charge of only $10. The website is NESportsTV.com and the first fight on the card will air at 7pm. The fight card will take place in Butler, Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh. Butler is the hometown of Brian Minto.

Pre-fight interviews are already posted on NESportsTV.com and can be heard anytime. It is likely the winner of the fight will face off against Vitali Kitliskco in November for the WBC World Championship.
