Seahawk coaches take Shots From The Heart
Two UNCW men’s basketball coaches are putting their hoops skills to work for the American Heart Association.
Assistant coach Jamie Kachmarik took part in the nationwide “Shots From The Heart” initiative.
The coach stepped to the charity stripe inside Trask Coliseum yesterday afternoon and sank 23 of 25 free throws.
Shots From The Heart honors the memory of former Wake Forest Coach Skip Prosser, who died of a heart attack in 2007.
“It was a good effort, missed a couple, had one short one long I believe, but everything was good, it’s for a good cause and we’re excited to be a part of it, Buzz and I both,” Kachmarik said after his effort.
The free throw contest is made up of two 64-coach fields, modeling the NCAA Tournament bracket.
Buzz Peterson steps to the line next week in the head coach’s tourney.
