Spring Festivities in Southport

Spring is here. And in Southport that means it’s time for the spring festival.

It all happened in Franklin Square Park in Southport today, the second of the two day extravaganza.

Festival goers hopped from booth to booth, admiring various arts and crafts, listening to live music, and, of course, sampling different types of chili.

“It’s hot! Spicy!” Southport Resident George Resch said after tasting some chili. “It really puts you on edge, it’s good stuff. I can’t wait to get through the rest of it.”

The chili cook-off is one of the event’s more popular attractions. It’s right up there with the Southport, Oak Island azalea sale.
